Tournament Note

Please view attached documents for GNLL Return to Play Guidelines along with Summary of Minnesota Boys Youth Rules.

Mask Requirements:

Per 4/22 MDH UPDATE.

Masks are NOT required by players while actively participating on the field in games/practices. However, they are asked to wear them when on the sidelines/gathering and not actively engaged. Players must still wear mouthguards under their masks for safety and liability reasons. Coaches on the sidelines are also asked to wear masks.

At this time, the only acceptable alternative to wearing a face mask during play is the Cascade Face Shield which extends past the nose and mouth and is a full face shield. Any other alternative must be approved by the League Director ahead of usage to ensure compliance with MDH requirements.

Coaches are not considered participants actively engaged at this time and are still required to wear masks on the sidelines during coaching.

Spectators within 6 feet of field boundaries must wear masks AND if they are by spectators not in their household. If you are outdoors and not within 6 feet of others, you may be unmasked per MDH guidelines (for anyone). Please do your best to respect the following rules set by the state as this is not a GNLL/Homegrown Lacrosse imposed rule.

Mask Exemptions:

Per the requirements of the MDH's COVID-19 Sports Practice Guidance for Youth and Adults, people who have medical or other health conditions, disabilities or mental health, developmental, or behavioral needs that make it difficult to tolerate wearing a mask/face covering may be exempt from wearing a mask/face covering.
Those individuals seeking a mask/face covering exemption must obtain and have on hand, a written, medical exemption from a licensed medical professional who is registered, licensed, certified, or otherwise statutorily (MN Statute Chapters 147 & 148) authorized by the state to provide medical treatment and is practicing within the person's medical training and scope of practice.

Association Board Members and Coaches have been notified that it is best practice to reach out to teams ahead of time to notify them if they have a player(s) with mask exemptions. If the other team is not comfortable playing against players without face masks, the League Director will do their best to change opponents but that may not be possible and your player will then have to choose whether to play with a face mask or sit out.

Capacity Limits:

At this time, outdoor venues have increased capacity and we don't anticipate needing to set spectator guidelines for spring league games. Please exercise your best judgement in regards to social distancing and minimizing possible spread.

Spirit of the Game:

GNLL places a big emphasis on the importance of a positive experience and sense of community for all of our participants and the lacrosse community as a whole. We ask that all coaches, spectators, and players are respectful of each other and our officials and honor the spirit of the game, also known as "The Medicine Game" which has a strong and sacred history among the Native American community.
