GREAT PLAINS FOOTBALL LEAGUE SEASON FORMAT:

PEE WEE & JR. MIDGET LEVELS: All teams will play regular season games beginning the weekend of August 21/22 and ending the weekend of September 25/26. During the regular season, each team will play a minimum of 5 games. Each week, one team will play 2x (once on Saturday and once on Sunday). This will allow for each team to play a game each weekend since there is an odd # of teams overall at both the Pee Wee and Jr. Midget levels. The only games that will count toward a teams’ overall record are games within their division. Out-of-Division (non-Divisional games) will not count in both teams win-loss record. However, we will keep score, record scores and final scores will show up for each team for all games. This format will allow GPYFL to determine the true standing for each team within their division.

Once all regular season games have been played, each team will receive at least 2 more games, beginning with games on October 2/3 and ending with games on October 9-10.

Pee Wee Post-Season: The 1st and 2nd place teams from each of the 4 divisions will qualify for the championship playoffs. The teams will be seeded 1 thru 8, with the division winners being seeded 1 thru 4 and the 2nd place teams being seeded 5 thru 8. In the playoffs, first round pairings will be: 1 vs 8, 2 vs 7, 3 vs 6 and 4 vs 5. These games will happen the weekend of October 2/3. The winners will then be re-seeded and will play in the semi-final games the weekend of October 9/10. The losers will also be re-seeded and will also play a final game the weekend of October 9/10. The winners of the Semi-Final games will play for the championship the weekend of October 16/17. All teams that do not win their division during the regular season will be paired against an opponent of similar record from the regular season results for both weekends of October 2/3 and October 9/10. This will give every team a competitive final 2 games vs. teams of similar skill and ability.

Jr. Midget Post-Season: The 1st place teams from each of the 8 divisions will qualify for the championship playoffs. The teams will be seeded 1 thru 8.

MIDGET LEVEL: All teams will play season games beginning the weekend of August 28/29 and ending the weekend of October 16/17. During the season, each team will play each team 2x for a total of 6 games per team. At the end of the regular season, the team with the best record will be crowned League Champion. Additionally, each Midget Level team has 2 built-in bye weeks during the regular season, which is an opportunity for tournaments, time off, or games vs. non-GPYFL teams.
